From August 10 to October 11, 2010, Sea Grape Gallery will be honoring two of its artists; Jim Beech, 2-D watercolor and acrylic artist, and Tania Begg, 3-D beaded sculpture and jewelry artist.

Jim Beech

Jim Beech’s art background started primarily in advertising and graphic design along with marketing communications. However he now loves spending the majority of his time working as a watercolorist and occasionally working in pen and ink. His landscapes and buildings take on an unusual character and are scenes that tell a story. Jim describes many of his works as paintings that seem to inspire the viewer to “wonder what might have gone on just before the image was captured” - making the pieces true conversation works of art. Jim, an award-winning artist, has had his works exhibited in many juried shows both in the State of Florida and elsewhere in the United States.

Tania Begg

Tania Begg cruised the Caribbean with her family for several years prior to returning to Florida in 1997. During her extensive travels, she absorbed the culture and color of the islands and has incorporated that background into her unique beaded wire sculptures - a must see is her whimsical “Lizzart”. Tania’s imagination has spread into other “characters” such as her “Whimsy Cat” which was chosen as one of Bead and Button Magazine’s top 100 international finalists in their Bead Dreams competition. Tania’s artistic talent has evolved through many mediums over the years, including wearable sculpture designed with glass and semi-precious stones. Along with her wire sculpture art, Tania’s beautifully created jewelry pieces are also available at the Gallery.

Sea Grape Gallery, an artists’ cooperative gallery, is the recent recipient of the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce’s Non-Profit Business of the Year Award and the Arts & Humanities Council of Charlotte County‘s Charlie Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Arts. Come visit the Gallery and its many talented award-winning artists who are on hand to welcome and assist visitors. Sea Grape’s Summer hours are Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Gallery is open until 8 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month for Gallery Walk.
