ARTIST NEWS

Sue's painting "Ibis and his Lily" won an Honorable Mention Award at the Visual Art Center's March, 2009 Show.

Susan Kapuchinski’s 27 years as a decorative fine arts painter began following her undergraduate work at The College of New Rochelle and graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania.  While living in Simsbury, CT., Susan continued to attend classes and seminars conducted by nationally recognized artists, carried out commissioned work and sold to buyers in the Southern New England region.
In 2003, after a one year sabbatical in Australia where she studied at the Griselda Academy on Australia’s Gold Coast, Susan relocated to Punta Gorda.  Upon her arrival, it was her first priority to become active with The Visual Arts Center.  As a member of the Fine Arts Festival Committee, she was instrumental in bringing about the VAC’s fall festival celebration of the artists Van Gogh, Dali, O’Keeffe and Gauguin where Susan worked on the reproductions of the artists paintings.
Susan’s present focus is primarily oil on canvas. Her work is done both from photos and sketches from her many travels from South America to the Far East as well as local Florida plein air.  She has a particular love for florals, still life and landscape. A composition that explores the inherent beauty in nature either from a singular orchid bloom or a specific setting is her inspiration and often times it is the dramatic effects of contrast in light and shadow that hold fascination for her.  Her work conveys a soft, romantic though realistic mood.  Her goal in painting is to make her artwork sing!
In May 2005, The Arts and Humanities Council of Charlotte County chose Susan their Artist of the Month.  A recent award winner, she continues to participate in juried shows. Her work was selected for entry into the 2006 National Art Show at the Visual Arts Center and Art Encounter 2008 at the von Liebig Art Center in Naples.  She continues to exhibit by request in local establishments in the area and refine her artistic style by study with area artists and teachers.  Fine art limited edition giclee prints of her works are available.
Susan currently is a member of the Arts and Humanities Council, The Charlotte County Art Guild, the Bonita Springs and Naples Art Centers and the Sea Grape Gallery.

Giclees

In addition to original paintings, giclee prints of original art are now also available at Sea Grape. Giclees are high quality digital reproductions of paintings printed on archival paper or canvas, using archival inks.  Giclees faithfully capture the beauty of the original work, and are fade resistant and long lasting.  Giclees are usually printed in limited editions, and are signed and numbered by the artist.  These prints have become increasingly popular at galleries as an economical alternative for the consumer. Since giclees can be printed individually as needed, and are available in different sizes and prices, customers are able to obtain an image that exactly suits their decor needs. Several of Sea Grape's two-dimensional artists have  giclee prints of their artwork available in specially marked bins, so stop in and browse!
