Phil’s love of wood was inspired by this father, Walter, an old world master craftsman from the Ukraine. After a lifetime of working with wood as a hobby, Phil now dedicates his efforts to artistic woodturning.
Phil’s understated, elegant designs are intended to focus the viewer’s eye on the wood itself, rather than the artist’s efforts.
Native woods gathered in South Florida are his main source of working materials, however, family and friends in North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia and Alabama are always on the lookout for downed trees. Hurricane Charley, which struck Southwest Florida August 13th, 2004, provided a large supply, including Blue Mahoe, Gumbo Limbo, Norfolk Island Pine, Albezia, Mahogany, and Casuarina.
Phil’s work has gained wide appreciation with pieces owned and exhibited by collectors in the United States, Canada and Europe.
Phil’s work is also currently being sold at:
The Hirdie Girdie Art Gallery
BIG Arts Founders Gallery
The Edison/Ford Winter Estates Museum
The Rising Stars Gallery
