“From an early age, I’ve
loved art and creating images that are meaningful to me. Painting is a way for me to share my view of
the world with those who find my artwork appealing. Although considered by many people the most
difficult medium to master, I find satisfaction working in watercolor because
it IS so challenging and can produce some pleasant surprises.”
Shirley blends her enjoyment of nature with
her passion for artistic realism to produce fine art paintings of a wide range
of subjects. Her paintings of landscapes
and nautical scenes capture an array of moods through skillful use of bursts of
color for brilliant sunsets and sunrises and subtle applications of paint
resulting in atmospheric depth and drama.
Attention to detail brings wildlife and waterfowl to life and arouses
the senses when viewing her still life creations.
After retiring from a
corporate career, Shirley received most of her formal art training in the
Washington, D.C. area where she studied with some of the most talented and
prominent artists in the country. Her
award-winning work has been featured in major publications, appears regularly
in juried exhibits in the US
and is held in private and corporate collections around the world. She accepts commissions to create custom
artwork for her clients.
